This women's padded jacket is a proper cold-weather coat rather than a light transitional layer. The hood is trimmed with faux fur, which does the practical job of keeping wind off your face as well as the decorative one, and the padded body holds warmth through a long walk rather than just the dash between car and door.
A button closure keeps the front line clean, and the drawstring gives you an adjustable waist, so you can pull in the shape over a slim outfit or leave it loose over a chunky knit. Long sleeves and two practical front pockets finish it. Five colorways run from the straightforward black and dark gray to camel, forest green and bordeaux if you would rather not disappear into a crowd of black coats.

How to measure. Use a soft tape, keep it level and snug but not tight, and measure over your underwear rather than over clothes.
Bust or chest: around the fullest part, with the tape under the arms and flat across the back.
Waist: around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually just above the navel.
Hip: around the fullest part of your hips and seat, roughly eight inches below the waist.
Inseam: from the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to the hem.
